How we work
Pilots, projects and partnerships — on a clear shape.
Engaging with Mutus Tech follows a five-step model — Discovery → Pilot setup → Season run → Review → Scale. Below: timelines, what you bring, what we bring, and indicative pricing structure by audience.
The five steps
From a 30-minute call to a season's evidence pack.
Every engagement follows the same shape. The duration and depth of each step adapts to your operation, but the steps themselves stay consistent — including for research-consortium and supply-chain engagements, where steps map to project work packages rather than seasons.

01
Discovery
Week 0 · 30-minute call
Understanding the fit
A short introductory call. You describe your fields, target crops, current data and what you'd like the platform to answer this season. We confirm whether the Mutus operating loop is a fit and outline next steps.
What you bring
- Field count and approximate area
- Crop mix and target yields
- Current advisers / agronomy arrangement
What we bring
- Honest fit assessment
- Indicative pilot scope
- Reference cases where available
-
02
Pilot setup
Week 1–2
Putting the data in place
We set up Parallel Farm for your operation. Field polygons, soil profiles, climate baseline, crop and rotation history are loaded. A first 12-month NPKS plan is generated for review. Typically one week to a working baseline; two if soil tests need ordering.
What you bring
- Field boundary data (GeoJSON / KML / paper map)
- Most recent soil chemistry results
- Recent yield records
What we bring
- Account provisioning
- NDVI baseline pull
- First Annual Prediction draft
- Login for your team and any advisers
-
03
Season run
Whole growing season
Live planning and execution
Smart Planning is live: monthly fertilisation recommendations, N-rate sensitivity rechecks when prices move, Farm Tasks queued for execution. Your team logs applied inputs through the mobile app; NDVI Analysis tracks crop response. We support and adjust together.
What you bring
- Activity records (when applied, what rate, photos)
- Field observations and notes
- Periodic agronomic check-ins
What we bring
- Plan refresh as conditions change
- Weather-aware fieldwork alerts
- Help desk for technical questions
-
04
Review
2–3 weeks post-harvest
What worked, what to change
A joint review of recommended vs adjusted vs applied rates, NDVI signal vs final yield, fertiliser cost vs harvested grain price. Carbon Footprint summary for the season. A partner-ready evidence pack is compiled for your advisers, programme funders or supply chain.
What you bring
- Final yield, grain quality data
- Any cost / invoice info for full ROI
What we bring
- Season-end report (PDF)
- Evidence pack for partner review
- Recommendations for next season's plan
-
05
Scale
Next season onward
Beyond the first pilot
Pilots that work expand: more fields, more farms in a group, integration with supply-chain reporting, deeper involvement in our R&D consortium. Pricing rebalances against the larger surface. Some clients move on; that is also a successful outcome of an honest pilot.
What you bring
- Expansion roadmap
- Internal stakeholders to bring on
What we bring
- Multi-farm rollout plan
- Programme / consortium fit assessment
- Pricing for the scaled surface
How we price
Engagement models by audience.
We don't publish blanket list prices because each engagement is sized to the operation. Below is the structure we use for each audience, so you know what to expect before the first call.
-
For farms & farm groups
One-season pilots on 1–10 fields, typically. We work directly with the farm manager or owner-operator. Multi-farm rates available.
Pilot pricing on application — typically a fixed annual fee per field, with multi-farm and farm-group discounts.
-
For agronomy consultancies & advisers
Use Parallel Farm to brief multiple clients with AHDB-aligned plans, NDVI evidence and scenario modelling. Adviser seats include client-scoped access.
Per-adviser seat licence with included client capacity, plus per-additional-client fees beyond that. Volume-based.
-
For research consortia & programmes
Mutus is open to Innovate UK / UKRI / Horizon Europe and equivalent consortia. We bring the operating record and platform; partners bring the field network and validation rigour.
Grant-funded engagements typically structured through the consortium budget. No direct fee to participating farms.
-
For supply chains & sustainability programmes
Branded portals on top of Parallel Farm for grower groups. Evidence packs prepared for partner-validated nutrient and soil-health claims.
Annual programme licence based on covered hectarage and the depth of reporting integration. Multi-year preferred.
All engagements are governed by a written agreement covering data ownership, confidentiality and exit. You own your field data and operational records at every stage; Mutus retains the right to use anonymised, aggregated learnings to improve the platform.
Boundaries
What an engagement is — and isn't.
What it is
- Decision-support for fertiliser and crop health — grounded in AHDB / RB209 / peer-reviewed methods
- A clean operating record — plans, tasks, applied inputs and crop response on the same field polygon
- Partner-ready evidence packs for advisers, programme funders and supply-chain reviewers
- Active collaboration through the season — not a one-off plan and walk away
What it isn't
- An agronomic prescription replacing your trusted adviser — you keep your agronomy chain
- An MRV body or carbon-credit issuer — we prepare evidence; standards partners verify
- A guaranteed-outcome product — fertiliser response remains weather, soil and management dependent
- A black-box AI tool — every recommendation is traceable to soil tests, climate data, AHDB references
Ready to talk?
A 30-minute call is the lowest-friction next step.
Tell us about your fields and what you'd like to be able to answer this season. We'll be honest about fit.
