FAQ

Common questions about Mutus Tech.

Answers to what farms, advisers, researchers and supply-chain partners actually ask us in the first call. If your question isn't here, just write.

  • What does a Mutus pilot actually involve?

A one-season pilot: we set up Parallel Farm with your fields, soil profile and target yields; you get Annual Predictions, monthly Smart Planning, N-Calculator, NDVI, Farm Tasks and an evidence-pack at season end. Five steps — Discovery, Setup, Season, Review, Scale — described on the How we work page.
  • How long does setup take?

Typically one to two weeks from the discovery call to a working baseline. If we're waiting on soil chemistry, it stretches to whenever the lab turns it round. Field-boundary import, NDVI baseline and the first Annual Prediction are done in days.
  • Do you replace my agronomist?

No. Parallel Farm produces AHDB RB209-aligned recommendations and partner-ready records; your agronomist remains in the chain and signs off on plans. We make their job easier, not redundant.
  • What soil tests do I need to provide?

Standard chemistry — pH, P, K, Mg, organic matter, soil texture — for the most recent sampling round. If you don't have current results, we can recommend a lab to run them; this just extends setup time.
  • Can I use Parallel Farm on multiple farms / multiple sites?

Yes. The data model is multi-farm, multi-user from day one. Estate managers and agronomy practices use it across portfolios. Pricing scales accordingly — see the How we work page.
  • Which crops do you support?

Out of the box: Winter Wheat, Spring Wheat, Winter Barley, Spring Barley, Winter Oats, Winter Oilseed Rape. Other crops can be added on request — let us know during discovery.
  • Does Pezego work in my region?

Currently live in the UK (cereals, oilseeds, potatoes) and Ghana (smallholder crops including maize, rice, cassava). Other regions added through programme partners.

For research & programme partners

For research & programme partners

  • Are you open to joining new Innovate UK / UKRI / Horizon consortia?

Yes, particularly around soil health, fertiliser efficiency, environmental-performance modelling and AI for agriculture. We currently co-lead one Innovate UK / UKRI project (Climate-Smart Fertiliser, 2024–2026). Contact us with a project brief.
  • What IP arrangements are typical?

Foreground IP from a consortium project is governed by the consortium agreement — we negotiate this case by case. Mutus retains background IP in the platform; partners retain their own. Anonymised aggregate learnings from the platform are shared with consortium members under standard project terms.
  • Can you provide data extracts for our research?

Yes, under an explicit data-sharing agreement and where the underlying field operators have consented. We don't share row-level field data without consent.
  • Where is your data hosted?

UK and EU regions (Cloudflare, AWS eu-west). Per UK GDPR / EU GDPR. See our Trust page for details.

For supply chains & sustainability programmes

For supply chains & sustainability programmes

  • What evidence do you provide for Scope 3 or supply-chain inset claims?

A field-level operating record: recommended N rate, adjusted rate, applied rate, completion date, photos, weather snapshot, NDVI context and a Carbon Footprint estimate per field. Packaged for partner validation — not self-issued MRV.
  • Are your outputs MRV-compliant?

We prepare evidence-ready records. Recognition by an MRV body or carbon registry is the partner's remit — we do not issue our own carbon credits or attestations. We collaborate with standards bodies on outcome-pack designs.
  • How is Carbon Footprint calculated?

Per-field GHG estimation from fertiliser, fuel and machinery use. The DA-Mamba state-space model (IEEE INDIN 2025 · DOI 10.1109/INDIN64977.2025.11279073) provides N₂O modelling. Treated as environmental-performance estimation, not certification.
  • Can we build a branded portal on top of Parallel Farm for our grower network?

Yes — programme partners typically license a branded surface with their grower group scoped underneath. Discuss during the discovery call.

About Mutus Tech

About Mutus Tech

  • Is Mutus Tech a UK company?

Yes. Mutus Tech Ltd — Companies House registration 13274475, UK private limited company since 2021. Registered office: 54 St James Street, Liverpool L1 0AB.
  • How is Mutus funded?

A combination of UKRI / Innovate UK consortium funding (£710K+ on the active Climate-Smart Fertiliser project), private investment, and revenue from pilots and licences. We are not VC-backed in the high-burn sense — we grow with research partners and customers.
  • Can I see a demo?

Yes. The fastest route is a 30-minute discovery call where we walk through the real Parallel Farm platform with your fields in mind. Get in touch.
  • Are you hiring?

Not actively running open roles right now, but we always want to hear from engineers, agronomists and applied-AI researchers who care about UK agriculture. See Careers.
  • Is the Pezego app free?

Free download from the App Store and Google Play. ESO (Extension Service Officer) features and large-scale data exports are part of programme partnerships.
