About Mutus Tech

A UK agricultural technology company building Soil Health and Fertiliser Intelligence.

Founded in 2021 and based in Liverpool, we develop practical AI-enabled tools for sustainable fertiliser management, soil-health monitoring and crop-risk intelligence. Companies House 13274475.

Who we are

Turning Science & Technology into Agricultural Practice.

We specialise in precision agriculture solutions that draw on AI, data analytics and cloud computing. Our products address pest detection, disease management and climate-smart fertiliser optimisation — supporting agricultural efficiency and helping to safeguard the environment.

"Our mission is to support farmers and advisers with practical tools — turning scientific research into operating records that work in the field, not just on paper."

Tim Lee Founder & CEO

Mutus Tech is driving modern agriculture towards a more intelligent and efficient future, offering data-driven decision support and comprehensive management tools to farmers around the world.

Why we do this

Concrete problems, not abstract ambitions.

Farms face rising fertiliser costs, soil productivity pressure, climate volatility and growing evidence requirements from supply chains and programmes. Mutus Tech develops practical digital tools that help farms make better field-level decisions and keep the records needed for review.

  • Rising fertiliser costs

Volatile input prices make plan rates and timing decisions more consequential than ever, and small inefficiencies cost more.

  • Soil productivity pressure

Long-running cropping and changing rotations leave many UK fields under productivity pressure, with declining response to standard inputs.

  • Climate volatility

Seasonal patterns are shifting. Planning rules built on 30-year averages no longer hold without season-aware adjustments.

  • Growing evidence requirements

Supply-chain insets, sustainability programmes and funders increasingly ask for field-level evidence rather than summary claims.

Capability basis

What Mutus Tech actually does technically.

  • AI and data modelling

Recommendation models for NPKS planning, N-rate sensitivity and yield estimation; pest image classification; environmental-performance modelling.

  • Cloud platform development

Java/Spring + MongoDB back end, Vue 3 web dashboard, multi-tenant, role-based, REST APIs with Swagger documentation.

  • Mobile agricultural applications

iOS and Android apps for in-field use — Parallel Farm companion app and Pezego (live on the App Store and Google Play).

  • Remote sensing & NDVI workflows

Sentinel-2 Copernicus imagery, per-polygon NDVI timelines, cloud-cover handling and overlays on the same operating record.

  • Fertiliser & environmental modelling

AHDB RB209 V08 N-rate implementation; DA-Mamba state-space N₂O model integrated as a Parallel Farm microservice (IEEE INDIN 2025).

  • Pest intelligence & field health tools

Photo-based pest identification with country-specific knowledge bases; PEZEGO peer-reviewed in IEEE IoT Journal 12(23).

Our journey

Milestones.

  1. 2018-2020

Our founders collaborated with leading agricultural groups and research institutions, laying the groundwork for precision agriculture R&D. Early investment focused on technologies for intelligent pest and fertiliser management.

  2. 2021

    Mutus Tech founded

The company was formally established (Companies House 13274475), with multiple R&D projects focused on intelligent pest management and fertiliser optimisation.

  3. 2022

Two major R&D projects received Innovate UK funding, supporting international research partnerships. The Parallel Farm platform was launched, providing integrated tools for farm management.

  4. 2023-2024

AI pest detection model and IPM mobile application launched with farm partners. Climate-Smart Fertiliser consortium project began with UKRI / Innovate UK backing (£710K+ funding award).

  5. 2025

Pezego launched on iOS and Android (IEEE IoT Journal 12(23)). DA-Mamba published at IEEE INDIN 2025 and integrated as a Parallel Farm microservice. UK delegation participation at GreenTech 2025, BridgeAI Annual Showcase, IEEE ICIT 2025 and UK–India Agri-Tech Accelerator.
